We were super excited when we received the phone call from our new client Wendy, Whom just recently purchase a CO-OP townhouse located in Roslyn Height, Long Island.
On our first meeting to this 2 bed / 2 bath townhouse, we defiantly saw some great potential in this space, despite it's compact size.
The family wanted a very fresh, clean feel to their new house. With two little boys (Age 8 & 5) , they needed a lot of storage place, especially in the kid's area.
Entrance - The original owner painted the whole interior wall.
Overall view of the public space - Entrance -> Dining area -> Living Room
One of the bathroom, that we will later turns into a guest / children's bathroom.
Master Bedroom - by the time it was still old carpet floor, the kid's seems to be having fun. One thing we notices is the beam across the room, defiantly something we need to take care of.
Master's Walk-in Closet
Second bedroom - We later decided to turn this to the kid's bedroom.
Living room wall, we have a very limited public space to work with, I'll later show the layout on the floor plan.
After we walk through the space, and had a interview with our client. We were given a budget of $22,000 to design the house. This budget will include all their furniture for every room, kitchen, bathroom, design fee, installation, shipping.
Basically they are not going to bring any furniture from their old house, so we are given a blank canvas to start with.
Talking about a blank canvas! The next day I received a phone call from the client saying the pipe from upper floor exploded ( yes, we are having a very tough winter) , and the kitchen ceiling is coming down.
We have no idea what she's saying, until.........
Apparently my client is being very accurate with the wording here, the ceiling is "coming down", we later on decided to change the kitchen cabinet color, which will fit our design theme better.
Well, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. When ceiling gives you a huge hole, fix it, and might as well insert some down light .
The completion date were being delay, water flooded into both master bedroom / Kid's room, so we had to take out the old flooring.
Master Bedroom - Old carpet floor is out .
Old wood floor from the kid's room are gone as well (Thank god! it was such a difficult color to work with)
