The Process - Part 2 --- Long Island , Wendy's Family

You gotta tear it down to make it beautiful

After meetings after meetings with our contractor Henry, we finally came to an agreement on what will be done by them, and what will be done by us.

Basically, they will re-do both bathroom, changed the toilet, sink, bathtub.  We will provide them with the material & finishes. They will also take care of the kitchen ceiling, as well as re-painted the entire house back to white.

Our contractor also strongly suggested that we should leave all the flooring jobs to them. Since it's not gonna be a easy job to level the existing floor and to put a new one on.  Nope, we love some tiny challenge, and my partner promise that this is going to be " super easy". (yes, plus we don't have the budget to have him to it.)

The old broken ceiling was taken down. We were trying to see if there's any space we could use to push the ceiling up a few inch. Turns out all the pipes were pretty low, the only thing we could do is try to make the kitchen brighter by installing s…

Master Bathroom - they didn't really teach us what's behind the bathroom wall in design school. Good thing our contractor was very nice to teach us some basic knowledge about pipes and plumbing.

One of the challenge in this project is it's a CO-OP building. CO-OP building often has tones of regulations on when you can operate certain things. For example, we could only work between the hours of 10:00- 4:00, Monday to Friday.

Our contractor accidentally work pass 4:00, the board people shows up at the door step 4:05, gave us a ticket right away. After that, we all have an alarm set up on 3:45 to make sure we could get all the cleaning done before 4:00.

During the construction, we also experienced the coldest winter in 20 years, and a huge snow storm - Juno.

The best experience is probably walking down in the Home Depot aisles two hours before the storm hits Long Island, and there were absolutely zero people in the store.

By the time we finished check out, the snow was at least 6 inches deep. A scared cashier looked at us and insisted that he will not be able to help us move our stuff on to the truck during this kind of weather.
